Irwin District Museum
The Irwin District Museum is housed within the confounds of the Old Police Station, Prison, and Courthouse complex. This delightful old building was built in 1870 and is made from limestone rubble. Featuring grand 5.5 metre high ceilings, the original cells were used until 1981 and are now open for inspection by the public.
The original building included a working court room, police station, cell block, and living quarters. It was built from locally-quarried limestone, featuring 450mm thick walls of random rubble style.
