Hamersley Gorge

Weano Gorge, Karijini National Park
Add To Itinerary

Hamersley Gorge is quite different again with dramatic colours, textures and reflections; with a beautiful waterfall to complete the brilliant scenery. To get to this gorge you must go outside the park and take the Nanutarra-Wittenoom Road to access a 4WD track to the gorge on the North West edge of the park.

There are a couple of walks at this site, the easiest being the Hamersley Waterfall track which is a 400m, 30 minute return trip. This track begins as steps, allowing access for most visitors. This walk boasts ever changing light and astonishing colours and reflections which highlight the complex geological forces in the landscape.

One of the more difficult walks at this site is the Hamersley Gorge track which is a 1km 3 hour return trip. Descending into the gorge you follow this route past still pools and polished boulders to ‘the Grotto’ which is a fern lined chasm partly hidden in the side of the gorge.
