You will marvel at the richness and beauty of the natural landforms as you drive (in airconditioned comfort in your Getaway car) through the harsh conditions experienced by the gold miners as they trudged around Australia's Golden Outback in search of their fortunes.
And every now and then in the most unlikely of places you will find a beautful wildflower display at the right time of year or watch a mighty wedge-tailed eagles soar.
The miners pushed their belongings in wheelbarrows around the Goldfields in many cases - very different to our modern methods of transport - but the stories of the mighty engineers and workers did who built the mighty "Golden Pipeline" from Mundaring to Kalgoorlie, and solved the problems associated with living and working in this harsh but magnificent environment show they were tough, smart, innovative and hard-working souls filled with courage and optimism for the future of this great land.
From the Golden Mile this itinerary takes you to the south coast where you will marvel at the beautiful white sandy beaches that go on for ever, the mighty Southern Ocean and the fish and birdlife that live in and around the Bay of Isles and the town of Esperance and then this escape plan will take you to the mighty Wave Rock.

The Escape with the Gold can be made in either direction - clockwise or anticlockwise - this escape plan is written clockwise but if the Jailors are watching that route you can always go the other way!
