The Central Wheatbelt Visitor Centre is located in the heart of Merredin, a thriving regional town a pleasant three hours drive from Perth and Kalgoorlie along the Great Eastern Highway. It also is situated on the railway routes; Avon Link and Prospector Trans WA.

Merredin is a wheat town and home to the world’s largest road train. Located 260km east of Perth, Merredin has a population of 3,600. The town's name is derived from the Aboriginal word "merrit-in", the place of the merrit tree, a eucalypt used to make spears. more
