Merredin Peak Reserve
Merredin Peak Reserve contains a large granite outcrop that was the site of one of the State’s earliest water harvesting projects. Granite, split from the rock, was used to channel water into a dam. The water was then gravity fed to the large storage tank by the rail lines as a source of water for the steam locomotives.
A walk along the trail up the rock rewards with delightful views of the town and reserve land to the east.
The reserve also housed an Army Field Hospital during World War 11 . This site is worth a visit as it contains an interpretation on the history of this unusual facility.
